Kata Spinner — Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-05-04 · Last updated 2026-05-10
This policy applies to Kata Spinner, an Android app published by Computerist Solutions, Inc. under the Dojominder brand. For the brand-level policy that covers our other apps and this website, see dojominder.com/privacy.html.
What we collect
Nothing. Kata Spinner does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. There are no user accounts, no analytics product, no crash-reporting service, and no advertising or tracking SDKs. The app does not make network requests.
What stays on your device
Kata Spinner stores a small set of practice data locally on your device using Android's standard sandboxed storage (a SQLite database). Specifically:
- Your preferences — selected karate style, which katas you have enabled, your rank if you have set one, and whether the rank-filter and training-mode toggles are on.
- Your practice history — for each kata you mark as completed: which kata, which style, which training mode, and when (a timestamp and your local date).
- The built-in kata library — kata names and ordering that ship with the app.
That is the full list. The app does not store free-form notes, audio, video, photos, contacts, or location.
Data retention
Because we do not collect any personal data, we retain none on our side — there is nothing for us to keep or to delete. Your local data is retained on your device for as long as the app remains installed. You can erase it at any time:
- From inside the app: Options → Reset today's practice clears today's records, and Options → Reset all history permanently deletes every practice record.
- By uninstalling the app, which causes Android to remove the entire local store.
We do not keep backups, archives, or any copy outside your device.
Android Backup
If your device has Android's system-level Backup enabled (Settings → System → Backup, on by default on many devices), Android may include Kata Spinner's local data in encrypted backups stored under your Google Account. This is a device-level service operated by Google under your Google Account terms, not by us — we have no access to those backups and cannot read or modify them. You can disable Android Backup in your device settings.
What we share
Nothing. We have nothing to share, and no one to share it with.
Permissions
Kata Spinner declares no Android permissions. It does not access the network, contacts, location, microphone, camera, photos, or any other sensitive data category. If a future feature requires a permission, we will explain why inside the app and update this policy before that feature ships.
External links
The app does not make network requests of its own. Tapping a “Look up” or similar external link opens your browser to a third-party page (currently the Shotokan kata reference at dojominder.com/shotokan-kata.html); from that point your browser handles the request under its own privacy terms. The app is not aware of what your browser does next.
Children
Kata Spinner is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from any user — including children — because we do not collect data.
Your rights (CCPA, GDPR, and similar)
Privacy laws in California, the EU, the UK, and elsewhere give users the right to know what personal data is held about them, to request deletion, and to opt out of sale or sharing. Because we hold no personal data, there is nothing to disclose, nothing to delete, and nothing to opt out of. Your local data on your own device is yours; you control it through the in-app reset options or normal device controls.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will revise this policy and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be called out explicitly. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
