Kotoba Deck — Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-05-20 · Last updated 2026-05-20

This policy applies to Kotoba Deck, an Android and iOS app published by Computerist Solutions, Inc. under the Dojominder brand. For the brand-level policy that covers our other apps and this website, see dojominder.com/privacy.html.

What we collect

Nothing. Kotoba Deck does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. There are no user accounts, no analytics product, no crash-reporting service, and no advertising or tracking SDKs. The app does not make network requests.

What stays on your device

Kotoba Deck stores a small amount of data locally on your device using your platform's standard sandboxed key-value storage (Android's SharedPreferences, iOS's NSUserDefaults). In version 1.0, specifically:

That is the full list. The app does not store free-form notes, audio recordings, video, photos, contacts, location, or anything else.

Future versions may add additional small pieces of local state (such as a daily-streak counter or per-term quiz progress for a spaced-repetition mode). When those land, this policy will be updated to reflect exactly what is stored. Anything we store will continue to stay on your device.

Data retention

Because we do not collect any personal data, we retain none on our side — there is nothing for us to keep or to delete. Your local data is retained on your device for as long as the app remains installed. The simplest way to erase it today is to uninstall the app, which causes the operating system to remove the entire local store.

A future release will add an in-app Reset control for users who want to clear local data without uninstalling. We do not keep backups, archives, or any copy outside your device.

Android Backup and iCloud Backup

If your device has system-level backup enabled — Android Backup (Settings → System → Backup) or iOS iCloud Backup (Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup) — the operating system may include Kotoba Deck's local data in encrypted backups stored under your Google Account or iCloud account. These are device-level services operated by Google and Apple respectively under their account terms, not by us — we have no access to those backups and cannot read or modify them. You can disable system backup in your device settings.

What we share

Nothing. We have nothing to share, and no one to share it with.

Permissions

Kotoba Deck declares no permissions on either platform. It does not access the network, contacts, location, microphone, camera, photos, or any other sensitive data category. If a future feature requires a permission, we will explain why inside the app and update this policy before that feature ships.

External links

The app itself does not make network requests. Tapping a link to this privacy policy or another external page opens your browser; from that point your browser handles the request under its own privacy terms. The app is not aware of what your browser does next.

Children

Kotoba Deck is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from any user — including children — because we do not collect data.

Your rights (CCPA, GDPR, and similar)

Privacy laws in California, the EU, the UK, and elsewhere give users the right to know what personal data is held about them, to request deletion, and to opt out of sale or sharing. Because we hold no personal data, there is nothing to disclose, nothing to delete, and nothing to opt out of. Your local data on your own device is yours; you control it through the in-app reset options or normal device controls.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will revise this policy and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be called out explicitly. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
